Project Explanation

To start off this project I had to research into the client. I included things such as who they are and what they do. I also included the whole purpose of the project and the tasks set out to do by the company and the requirements that have been set in order to meet the brief. I then explained the target audience for the project to point out who my project is aimed at. I had to create an audience profile using a spider diagram to show the aspects and communities of who this project is aimed at. I then analyzed 3 existing print adverts and posted them on my blog.

Before I started any practical work I had to go over the pre production. This included parts such as Location scouting, risk assessments and a personnel list. These forms are to say that I am able to record and the dangers that I may come across in the process of the practical work.

I then created a pitch presentation on google slides which includes aspects such as client research, target audience, my task and a brief idea of my my project will consist of.   I have also received feedback on the pitch. The feedback was to help me develop an understanding of what is required of me in order to make a print advert that will meet the brief.

I had to create flat plans to give me a brief idea of what the final product will look like. I created these using PowerPoint so the process was quick and easy. I explained the pros and cons of each flat plan then came up with a final idea. This was the last thing I had to do before I started the practical work.

The production diary came next which was where I documented the process of the creation of both of my print adverts. Therefore the blog post includes points such as slogan creation, experimentation, shooting schedule, photos that are going to be used, photos I haven't used and the editing process of the Print Adverts. The whole blog post is a step by step guide on how I got to the final product.

Then finally I had to create my post production diary. This post included the feedback which I received on my first drafts of the print adverts. I have included screenshots of the feedback I have received and the improvements which I've made. The production diary also includes the dates of which I took the photos.

 Problem Solving and Skills Development

Throughout this project I have encountered a few problems which I have overcome. These include making improvements to my work and choosing a suitable flat plan to use for my design. I solved this by judging my time management and thought how I can use my time wisely by choosing the landmarks that were easier to get too. Another problem which I encountered was the weather on the days which I took the photos. The day I took the 3 photos which were all close together it was a cloudy day and it was also windy. This made the images look less appealing due to the clouds. This also made it harder to find the right photo to choose to put on my poster. I solved this problem by picking the right place in order to make the landmark more clear to see. I picked good spots for the shots then managed to make an edit to make them look more appealing. Another problem which I had to solve which was to choose which flat plans I was going to replicate for my final product. This decision did take time as I had to consider things such as time and transport. I overcame this problem by creating a shooting schedule which contained the dates and locations of when I was going to take photos for my final product. I also had to consider the time it will take for me to edit the photos and create a print advert which is appealing and relates to the blog. The shooting schedule was made on google docs which I have analyzed and gave my reasoning for the dates and locations in my Production Diary.

In order to make the final product I had to develop skills whilst using photoshop. I developed this by experimenting with the edits in order to make the final product look more appealing. I also developed the skills of public photography and really taking time to get the right photograph. In order for me to get the right photographs I had to take time when taking the photo in order for the quality to remain good. Hopefully the skills I have development will come for certain uses in the future.

Final Product

These are the two Print adverts which I have made and which are the final product of this project. This print advert meets the brief as it is aimed for people within the north east aged 16-25. The client has an encouragement and interest to learn and develop an understanding of culture within the North East. Both of these Print adverts highlight the main parts of the north east. The slogan is an encouraging and empowering message to the audience in order to meet the brief and persuade the client to explore the culture of the north east. The reason for which I showed inconsistency within the colour and the font was to highlight the unique locations within the North East.   Also if I was to use the same font on both of these images it could effect the sight of the landmarks as they may be cut off due to the size and placement of the font. This is where the flat plans which I designed before I made the final product came in handy as I had a good understanding for which font I need for which picture of the landmarks. However I did show some form of consistency within the print adverts by using the same slogan. This was to show a similarity to show that both of the Print Adverts which I created have a similar meaning behind them and to also highlight the purpose and reasoning for them.

What I have learned

Throughout this project I learned the importance of documenting my progress. The creation progress has to be documented in order to highlight the journey towards my final product. The documentation also highlights the skills developed throughout project and how they have helped with the development of the final product.

In order to do better next time I should pre plan more as a lot of the decisions within the creation of the final product were made at the last minute.
